Apprenticeship is a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training. It is a carefully planned program which combines actual job experience with classroom training to prepare the apprentice for a rewarding career in the construction industry. The apprentice isn’t studying in order to get into the trade; he/she is studying while they are actually working in the trade day by day.
Since developing the "Wheels of Learning" craft training curricula in the 1980's, ABC has become the world leader in apprenticeship and craft training in the free enterprise, merit shop construction industry. The Contren® Learning Series is competency-based, task-driven, modular craft training curricula based on today's construction industry practices. ABC Keystone utilizes this curriculum exclusively to prepare today's apprentice for tomorrow's technology.
Apprenticeship is a formal training program registered through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards, and meets all federal and state requirements for formal apprenticeship and prevailing wage work, including employer-sponsored classroom instruction and on-the-job training. Upon successful completion, craft workers are recognized at the journeyperson level in their trade and are awarded their BAT certificate.
