CONSTRUCTION RODEO
Construction Rodeo

Sunday, September 28, 2008, 1 - 5 p.m., at the ABC Keystone Building

The ABC Construction Rodeo, held the last Sunday of September, is a fun-filled day for families, complete with free parking and free admission. Clowns, face painting, balloons, games, and door prize drawings can be found all throughout the day.

Thousands of people come out to learn more about the construction industry, while supporting the Make-A-Wish® Foundation and the Merit Shop Scholarship Fund.  Various construction competitions showcase the skills of our members' tradespersons, who are given difficult tasks with a fun twist, using heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, and skid steers or showcasing speed and dexterity with trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing -- with safety always in mind.

Attractions and events include: inflatable obstacle course; coloring contest; construction obstacle course for students; nail and peg driving contests; Lego® competition; aerial lift and more.

The annual craft apprenticeship competition, held in conjunction with the Rodeo, features apprentices from ABC member companies, the winners of which will continue on to compete at a national level.

In 2007, over 3,700 adults and children attended the Rodeo, and the total Make-A-Wish and Scholarship Fund donations from ABC Keystone's involvement to date has topped $305,000.
