ACE Mentoring

The mission of the ACE Mentor Program is to “enlighten and motivate high school students to career opportunities in Architecture, Construction and Engineering and related areas of the design/construct industry through mentoring” (The ACE Mentor Program, 2006). ACE has already shown great success in Central Pennsylvania in the York area and is currently expanding its horizons to the Hershey, Harrisburg and Lancaster areas. How can members of ABC help? Currently, the York program is in its third year. A Hershey/Harrisburg affiliate has been created for a start in fall 2007, and plans for a 2008 Lancaster affiliate have begun. All affiliates need mentoring firms/companies and volunteer mentors. Benefits for employers include giving back to the community, professional development of mentors, networking with other professionals, and connecting to talented and motivated future recruits. This is a great opportunity to invest in, and preserve the quality of our professions. YouthBuild

YouthBuild is a comprehensive youth and community development program. The program provides educational (GED) and job training services; leadership development, counseling, support activities; and on-site training through housing rehabilitation or construction work.
