Better health and safety for construction workers is the goal of the strategic partnership launched by ABC Keystone and the U. S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
A key goal of the partnership is to increase the number of ABC member companies in the Association's Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) -- a voluntary program that guides employers in evaluating and increasing the effectiveness of their safety and health programs, policies and procedures.
Other objectives of the partnership include reducing injuries from falls, struck-by and caught-in mishaps and electrocutions, and mentoring STEP applicants to move from Bronze to Diamond, ABC's highest STEP award level.
On July 24, 2013, directly after the quarterly Safety Forum, ABC Keystone hosted the signing ceremony of our third, three year OSHA Partnership agreement. This new agreement will carry ABC, and those members that sign up to participate, through July 2016. We want to extend a special thanks to Kevin Kilp, the Area Director from USDOL/OSHA, Harrisburg Area office, for being present and participating in the signing.
This new agreement has also been signed by the area offices of Philadelphia, Allentown and Wilkes-Barre. As of the end of July, we have 12 ABC member firms signed as partners. We encourage every member firm that has participated in STEP to sign up for the partnership and take advantage of the benefits that go along with it.
